Planned Gifts
Planned giving can be a mysterious process and viewed as something that is a fit only for wealthy individuals. In fact, planned giving is a great way for anyone to support our organization and make a gift with a lasting impact. We would be honored to be included as part of your legacy.
There are a number of ways that individuals can support Marine Mammals of Maine with planned gifts that we've described in further detail below.

Will Bequest
In this case we will receive the gift after your lifetime. You can let us know of your plans in advance or not and anonymous bequests are also possible. Unrestricted bequests allow us to use funding where it is most urgently needed, but if you’d like to designate funding to a specific program please contact Katy Green in advance to make sure that we can accommodate your wishes.
Leaving a bequest is simple and language can be incorporated into wills at the time of their creation or amended at a later date. Bequest language should include the following elements:
*That you are offering a bequest to Marine Mammals of Maine organized and existing under the laws of Maine and recognized as exempt from tax under Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code, with its principal office contact at P.O. Box 751 Bath, ME 04530 and facility location at 78 Water Street Brunswick, ME 04011.
*dollar amount or percentage of your estate
*any restrictions on use

Beneficiary Designation
We would be honored to be named a primary or co-beneficiary in life insurance and qualified retirement plans that include 401(K), 403(B), Keogh, and pension plans.
You can name MMOME as a beneficiary by including the following information in your designation documents.

Tax Free IRA Distributions
Individuals 70 ½ or older can donate as much as $100,000 from their individual retirement accounts tax-free with donations counting toward the required minimum distribution that IRA holders in that age group must take from their accounts each year.
IRA Charitable Rollover contributions can be made one-time or recurring and are not subject to federal income tax. Checks can be mailed to P.O. Box 751 Bath, ME 04530.
