Marine Mammals of Maine (MMoME) is still here and going strong! However, the closing of the Marine Animal Rehabilitation Center at the University of New England in May, 2014. has increased the pressure on MMoME’s staff and volunteers during our busiest time of the year.
Lynda Doughty, our Executive Director, is working closely with our Board of Directors to develop a long term strategy and a plan to bring marine mammal rehabilitation back to Maine. With this in mind, we are launching the SAVE OUR STRANDED SEALS campaign to enable MMoME to weather the current crisis and move forward. A financial donation of any size will be of great help to us. Thank you!

About Marine Mammals of Maine
Marine Mammals of Maine provides response and assistance to stranded marine animals in the southern and mid-coast areas of Maine (Kittery to Rockland). We have a Stranding Agreement with NOAA Fisheries and an experienced volunteer animal response team. MMOME is a 501(c)3 non-profit charitable organization as defined by the IRS. We rely heavily on private financial support for our operational costs.
Our goals encompass collaboration with partner organizations to aid in the protection and support of marine animals as defined by the Marine Mammal Protection Act and we strive to provide public education about marine animals and the environment.
MMoME has an active Board of Directors and an Executive Director. Together, we have over 100 years experience working with marine animals in Maine.
We welcome you to visit our News and Notices page, Facebook and Twitter to find out current information about our organization. MMOME welcomes new volunteers and we encourage interested individuals to fill out our volunteer interest form and attend a mandatory bi-annual training session.
